ALS Attends CELC Conference in Bali

The third gathering of the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Conference (CELC) Asia-Oceania region took place in Bali, Indonesia, from June 10 to 12. Seventy representatives and guests attended from churches in twelve Asian countries and the United States.

The keynote address, Gospel Ministry in the Local Church, explored how Christians are called to participate in gospel ministry and what that looks like in various cultures.

ALS Professor, Dr. Guy Marquardt, gave a presentation to the attendees explaining how ALS serves those partner churches in the region by joining together in theological training efforts. These efforts lead to the growth of the church in Asia by raising up the next generation of church leaders.

Shared meals, island sightseeing, and joyful singing provided rich opportunities for fellowship across cultures. The joyful, Christ-centered atmosphere highlighted the unity we share in Jesus in the CELC—and a foretaste of the eternal banquet to come.
