February marked the official retirement of Rev. Titus Tse from the Presidency of SALEM. He served God and his Church faithfully for 38.5 years! The International Council for Evangelical Theological Education (ICETE) held its 19th global consultation conference, known as ICETE C-25, in Durrës near Tirana, Albania, from March 3 to March 7, 2025. ALS professors, Dr. Guy Marquardt and Mr. Jeremy Seeger attended the event, which focused on the theme “NEXT in Theological Education,” aiming to explore innovative ways to rethink and reshape theological education to better equip Christian leaders worldwide.

On March 14th, President Bare gave a public lecture on the past and future of theological education as part of the celebration of ALS’s 20th anniversary. Pres. Bare covered how theological education has developed over the centuries, how seminaries were first formed, and why theological education is still very relevant today in Asia and around the world. We are excited to announce that the renovations on the 4th floor of our Hong Kong campus are complete! The new lighting, projectors, and TV are a much welcomed upgrade to the spa3ce. Since 1997 the SALEM church body has been blessed by God to have Rev. Titus Tse serving as their president. Now that Rev. Tse has retired, Rev. Wong was chosen by the board of directors to take over the position of president and was installed as president on March 3 in a ceremony held at Grace Lutheran Church. ALS rejoices with SALEM that God has prepared another man to lead his people in growing in the grace and knowledge of their Savior.
In late February, fifteen leaders from seven countries gathered in Chiang Mai for a continuing education course on Christology taught by guest professor, Harland (Skip) Goetzinger from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. The men were able to gather for learning, but also for fellowship, Bible Study, and worship together. The psalmist puts it best when he says in Psalm 133:1, “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!”
