ALS Attends CELC Conference in Bali

The third gathering of the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Conference (CELC) Asia-Oceania region took place in Bali, Indonesia, from June 10 to 12. Seventy representatives and guests attended from churches in twelve Asian countries and the United States. The keynote address, Gospel Ministry in the Local Church, explored how Christians are called to participate in gospel ministry and what that looks like in various cultures.  ALS Professor, Dr. Guy Marquardt, gave a presentation to the attendees explaining how ALS serves those partner churches in the region by joining together in theological training efforts. Pres. Bare Delivers Commencement Speech at Immanuel Lutheran College Graduation

Pres. Jon Bare addressed the graduating students of Immanuel Lutheran College on May 30th. ALS’s and ILC’s history goes back to the 1960s when missionaries from America came over to Hong Kong at the invitation of a pastor from Hong Kong to help support the growth of his church and school. That school eventually became what ILC is today. We are blessed to share these roots with ILC. Pres. On June 1, ALS celebrated its 20th anniversary with a worship service and banquet. We were so happy to see so many guests come from near and far to celebrate God’s grace to and through ALS over the last 20 years. Guests came from America, India, the UK, Thailand, and other parts of Asia to be with us for this joyous occasion. The banquet included games, prizes, speeches, and performances by guests. Rev. Titus Tse Retires from Presidency of SALEM

February marked the official retirement of Rev. Titus Tse from the Presidency of SALEM. He served God and his Church faithfully for 38.5 years! On May 5th, hundreds of people attended an event hosted by SALEM to show their appreciation for his decades of work. ALS Professors Attend ICETE Conference

The International Council for Evangelical Theological Education (ICETE) held its 19th global consultation conference, known as ICETE C-25, in Durrës near Tirana, Albania, from March 3 to March 7, 2025. ALS professors, Dr. Guy Marquardt and Mr. Jeremy Seeger attended the event, which focused on the theme “NEXT in Theological Education,” aiming to explore innovative ways to rethink and reshape theological education to better equip Christian leaders worldwide.
