New Round of Certificate Level Courses Starting in April

The ALS certificate level, named TELL, is a set of courses meant to help you read and learn the Bible for your own faith and so that you can share with others. These courses are different from our other course offering because they are held all year round and each course is only 4 weeks long, meeting for 2 hours a week. Any person interested in learning and sharing God’s Word with others can join! Our next course in English is the “Work of the Savior.” It starts on April 6. You can sign up by … Continue Reading

Ready to Go

“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” Luke … Continue Reading

Grace in Place of Anger

“I will praise you, LORD. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:1,2 When someone offends or hurts you with words or actions, what’s your most likely response? To show grace or fume with anger? For many of us, too often, we react with anger. In our Bible reading for today, the author says that God was angry with … Continue Reading

Governing Board Annual Meeting

This week faculty and Governing Board members from all over the world met for 2 days in person in Hong Kong to discuss ALS’s expanding programs, the routine re-accreditation process through the ATA, and ultimately how ALS can best use the resources and talents God has given us to share the gospel and raise up leaders for the Church. We thank God for the wisdom and guidance of the board members.

Grace in Place of Condemnation

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1,2 What’s it like to stand before a judge, waiting for his verdict? Maybe you know what it’s like, or maybe you’ve only seen it on the news. Whether we have stood in front of a judge in real life or not, all of us are accountable to God, who rightly judges every heart. If we’re honest, we know … Continue Reading

The Lenten Season

Lent is more than a tradition; it’s a time to center our lives on the redeeming work of Jesus. Rather than focusing on our own self-denial, we emphasize the sacrificial love of a Savior who gave everything so that we might have life. Though not a divine command, we observe these forty days in Christian freedom as we prepare our hearts for Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Join us as we reflect on the grace and mercy God has so richly given to us. God bless your Lent season!

Grace in Place of Merits

[The younger son said to his father] “I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.” . . . The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes … Continue Reading

Grace in Place of Greed

Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. . . So he got up and went to his father.
