Asia Lutheran Seminary is pleased to announce a strategic upgrade to our Student Advisor Program (SAP) to better support the spiritual and academic growth of our students. The revamped structure is a move toward a system that empowers qualified ALS students and alumni to serve as mentors throughout the seminary journey. This enhanced program deepens our commitment to providing personalized pastoral care to students while building a network of Lutheran leaders across Asia.
Asia Lutheran Seminary’s Regional Theological Education Program (RTEP) provides consultation to partner churches and seminaries on a variety of issues pertaining to theological education. Led by ALS Vice President, Dr. Guy Marquardt, the RTEP team assists Lutheran missionaries and local leaders with training needs assessments, program development, curriculum planning workshops, program assessment, and recommendations for revision or updates. The ALS certificate level, named TELL, is a set of courses meant to help you read and learn the Bible for your own faith and so that you can share with others. These courses are different from our other course offering because they are held all year round and each course is only 4 weeks long, meeting for 2 hours a week. We have recently begun renovations on the 11th floor of our Hong Kong campus. In the next few months, these renovations will be completed and will change the previous office space into a classroom/meeting room. We are excited for the refresh so that our students can have the best learning environment possible!
This week faculty and Governing Board members from all over the world met for 2 days in person in Hong Kong to discuss ALS’s expanding programs, the routine re-accreditation process through the ATA, and ultimately how ALS can best use the resources and talents God has given us to share the gospel and raise up leaders for the Church. We thank God for the wisdom and guidance of the board members.
Lent is more than a tradition; it’s a time to center our lives on the redeeming work of Jesus. Rather than focusing on our own self-denial, we emphasize the sacrificial love of a Savior who gave everything so that we might have life. Though not a divine command, we observe these forty days in Christian freedom as we prepare our hearts for Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
