ALS works closely with gospel workers who serve countries all over Asia. We meet annually in person in Thailand. The theme this year was “More than We Can Imagine.” God can do anything. He can do more than our human brain’s can even fathom. With that in mind, we plan for the future to expand our gospel ministry to reach more people throughout Asia, so that the gospel may continue to go out by God’s grace and with his power.
Next week is the Lunar New Year, ALS wishes everyone a Happy New Year, good health and God’s grace. but also to be thankful for that old, eternal blessing of God’s grace, which he has bestowed upon mankind since the beginning of time.
Christianity Today gave the Award of Merit in History/Biography to Dr. Thompson for his Book, Jingjiao: The Earliest Christian Church in China, saying that it is a balanced, thorough, and accessible history of the Jingjiao adding that the text will be an indispensable resource for students of global Christianity and missiology. We praise God that Dr. Thompson has blessed the kingdom with this hard work and research!
ALS staff and faculty wish all you a happy new year in the Lord. You may have had a good year or not. You may have been healthy this year or not. You may have been wealthy this year or not. The good news is that in the last year and in the next year and all the years to come the grace and love of God is with you. Your sins are forgiven and you are at peace with God now. Live in that peace this next year. Enjoy it!
ALS faculty and staff would like to wish you a merry Christmas! We hope that it’s one filled with food, gifts, and all sorts of blessings, but we also pray that this time of year you are able to rest in the facts of the Christmas story: that God, made flesh, came down to earth to be born as a humble human being for you!

Did you know that ALS partners with Lutheran churches throughout Asia to carry out seminary training and workshops? In Thailand, we serve the Confederation of Lutheran Churches (CLC). This group of leaders recently met together to study God’s word together and to continue to grow in unity and faith. At the conference, President Bare presented on the lasting value of the Lutheran Confessions.
ALS partnered with Friends Network missionaries to attend this year’s ATA consultation. The conference theme was “Sights, Sounds, and Stories” with a focus on the intersection between art and theological education. Pictured are President Bare and his wife Kim along and Friends Network Missionary Artists Colin and Maida.
