ALS staff and faculty wish all you a happy new year in the Lord. You may have had a good year or not. You may have been healthy this year or not. You may have been wealthy this year or not. The good news is that in the last year and in the next year and all the years to come the grace and love of God is with you. Your sins are forgiven and you are at peace with God now. Live in that peace this next year. Enjoy it!
ALS faculty and staff would like to wish you a merry Christmas! We hope that it’s one filled with food, gifts, and all sorts of blessings, but we also pray that this time of year you are able to rest in the facts of the Christmas story: that God, made flesh, came down to earth to be born as a humble human being for you!

Did you know that ALS partners with Lutheran churches throughout Asia to carry out seminary training and workshops? In Thailand, we serve the Confederation of Lutheran Churches (CLC). This group of leaders recently met together to study God’s word together and to continue to grow in unity and faith. At the conference, President Bare presented on the lasting value of the Lutheran Confessions.
ALS partnered with Friends Network missionaries to attend this year’s ATA consultation. The conference theme was “Sights, Sounds, and Stories” with a focus on the intersection between art and theological education. Pictured are President Bare and his wife Kim along and Friends Network Missionary Artists Colin and Maida.
ALS has been offering library workshops for students this October and November. Through these workshops, students will gain a deeper understanding of the library’s collection resources, as well as how to use the e-library and other support software. This will help them make more effective use of library resources to enhance their theological studies and spiritual growth. If you’re interested in using the library or have questions, please email us at info@als.org.hk
SALEM and ALS celebrated the Reformation at ALS on October 31 with a wonderful worship service. Professor Tim Matthies reminded us in his message that our confidence is in Christ. We pray that by the power of the Holy Spirit we can remain true to the teachings of the Bible, God’s holy, inspired and inerrant Word.
Almighty God and Father, we thank you for all your mercies, especially for the gift of your Son, through whom you have revealed your gracious will. We praise you for the Holy Spirit and his working through the means of grace. Plant your Word in our hearts, and cause it to produce fruit in our lives. Strengthen and defend your Church, that by your Word and sacraments faith may grow and love toward all may increase. Support all who spread the light of your truth throughout the world. Preserve the nations of the world in justice ...
ALS celebrated the graduation of another group of students on Sunday, October 27th at Grace Lutheran Church on Broadcast Drive. We are blessed to see these students serving in God’s Kingdom throughout Asia. God bless your ministries as you share the truth of salvation with all people!
