ALS Joins Joint SALEM Worship Service

On Sunday, Dec. 7th, SALEM held its annual joint worship service, where all members of all SALEM congregations gather to worship once a year as one unified church body in Christ. ALS was able to take part again this year, as a partner of SALEM in theological education. Prof. Tony Barthels brought greetings to the assembly from ALS along with 2 representatives from SALEM’s sister church body in America, the WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod). Rev. Prayers for Those Affected by the Fire in Tai Po

Merciful Father, Look with compassion on Tai Po and all affected by this tragic fire. Protect the firefighters, rescue workers, and all who are in danger. Bring healing to the injured, comfort to those who have lost loved ones, and peace to those who have been displaced. Grant wisdom to the authorities in dealing with this difficult situation. Even in this dark hour, let your light and love be known. We entrust all those affected to your care, through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord. Amen.

Pres. Bare Presents in Japan

President Bare presented on the work of Asia Lutheran Seminary at a Lutheran free conference in Japan. Leaders of the Lutheran Evangelical Christian Church (LECC) attended the conference. Leaders and members of the Lutheran Evangelical Christian Church, ALS’s sister church from Japan, attended the conference. ALS looks forward to continuing its cooperation with LECC on theological education in the future.

ALS Graduation Ceremony

ALS hosted its 12th graduation ceremony at Grace Lutheran Church in Hong Kong on October 19. It was a celebration of the achievement of 35 individual graduates who received various certificates, diplomas, and degrees. These students are now preparing to enter into the mission field to share the gospel throughout Asia. God’s blessings to these graduates as they share the gospel wherever they may be. ALS and SALEM Holding Joint Reformation Worship Service

Do people have free will? For the 500th anniversary of the publishing of Martin Luther’s book, The Bondage of the Will, Dr. Angus Cheung will discuss this topic in a lecture titled Erasmus and Luther: A Historical Debate on Free Will and Sola Gratia. This short lecture will take place on Reformation Day, October 31st at 7:00 PM at ALS as part of a joint Reformation celebration with SALEM. A Reformation worship service will follow the lecture. ALS’s 12th Graduation Service

ALS will be holding a worship service and graduation ceremony on Sunday, October 19 at Grace Lutheran Church (SALEM) on Broadcast drive at 3:30. We have students celebrating graduations from all levels from certificate to Master of Divinity. We pray that they are given plenty of opportunities to serve God and his people with the training they have received while studying at the seminary.
